Virtual Job Fair

Since 2012 there have been continuous changes and improvements in the employment market. As companies are receiving a lot of applications for different roles, they are working hard and spend a lot of time to place each qualified candidate. Many of those companies started to use virtual job fairs.

Virtual job fairs are online events which  allow job seekers to connect with employers and discuss the existing job opportunities. For communication purposes participants can use conference calls, chat rooms,  webinars, or send emails to each other. There’s also an opportunity to upload CVs.

Job fairs offer in-house and virtual jobs, but it depends on the employer.  Such events offer various resources to job seekers, like videos, resume tips, etc.
Logging – in the participants can access different ‘’booths’’ organized by companies. There they can find information about companies and job opportunities.
Candidates may be notified about job fairs through company websites, social networks and through other online resources.

Virtual job fairs may last from hours to a few days. The main purpose of these events, as HR experts state, is to generate some interest among candidates. These events are also useful for passive job seekers, which are not actively searching for new jobs.

For being successful in finding a job through events like this, one should follow a few steps.
The first is to apply to jobs which you are more likely to receive. That means the jobs should match your skills and qualifications, you should possess some experience.

Second, you should prepare your resume.  You can save it on your computer, or send to recruiters which are interested to have an interview with you. The resume should include all the details about your previous employment, your skills, accomplishments. Also, it should be grammatically correct, mistake free.

The third is to take notes about companies that will be participating in the fair, about the jobs they have posted. You can use the notes to prepare questions for recruiters.
Everyone participating in an online job fair should remember, that it’s not just a chat, it requires professionalism and seriousness.
If you follow these simple but important steps you will be able to get as much benefit as possible from such events.
